Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes Iris Pediatric Dentistry different from other dental offices?
Our practice was built to help children love the dentist. We combine advanced technology—like the Solea CO₂ laser for needle-free fillings—with a calm, judgment-free environment where kids feel safe and understood. Want to hear more, listen here!
2. Who are the dentists at Iris Pediatric Dentistry?
Dr. Leslie Murray and Dr. Kate Trieschman are board-certified pediatric dentists who specialize in gentle, minimally invasive care for children, including those with special healthcare needs.
3. What age should my child first visit the dentist?
We recommend a first visit by age one or within six months of the first tooth erupting. Early visits help us track development and make dental care fun from the start.
4. What types of treatments do you offer?
We provide comprehensive pediatric dental care, including exams, cleanings, laser fillings, silver diamine fluoride, sealants, extractions, and treatment under general anesthesia when necessary. We are also happy to work with families choosing to be fluoride free to optimize their child’s health. Learn more about these options here!
5. What is laser dentistry, and why do you use it?
Our Solea CO₂ laser lets us treat most cavities without drills or shots. It’s quiet, fast, and gentle—helping kids feel comfortable and confident during treatment.
6. Do you offer sedation or anesthesia for kids?
Yes! We offer the safest options for children who need to sleep for dental treatment—either in-office with a protected airway or at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
7. How do you help anxious children feel comfortable?
We use kid-friendly language, visual stories, and time for children to explore the environment before treatment. Every visit is paced to meet your child’s comfort level. We are happy to move at their pace and build trust before trying new things.
8. Do you treat children with special healthcare needs?
Absolutely. Our team has advanced training in caring for children with developmental or medical differences. We adapt visits to each child’s needs and comfort and also have ability to take our patients to Children’s Hospital Colorado as needed, and even offer combo surgeries with other specialties!
9. What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept Colorado Medicaid, CHP Plus, and most PPO plans. We also offer an in-office care plan for families paying out of pocket.
10. What is the in-office care plan?
Our in-office plan provides big savings for families without insurance. It includes preventive visits and discounts on other services for a yearly membership fee.
11. How do I prepare my child for their first visit?
Talk about the visit positively, show photos from our website, and let your child watch our “What to Expect” video. Our goal is to make it fun, not scary!
12. How often should my child see the dentist?
We recommend every six months for cleanings and exams to prevent cavities and monitor growth.
13. What if my child gets a cavity?
Don’t worry—our judgment-free approach means we’ll discuss gentle treatment options, including needle-free laser fillings or silver diamine fluoride.
14. Do you take X-rays, and are they safe?
Yes, we use digital X-rays that are extremely low in radiation. We only take them when necessary to guide safe, effective care.
15. How can I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule directly through our online portal or by calling or even texting our Denver office at 720-678-9401.
16. Do you accept referrals from other doctors?
